Nautiloid/Beach
Take a Long Rest before doing anything for background story (Shadowheart will move from the beach to
Druid Grove
).
Explore the Ravaged Beach to the South, then North to find your first
Fast Travel
Sigil for Overgrown Ruins. If you didn’t rescue Shadowheart on the Nautiloid she will be here.
Go West, through the downed Nautiloid. Fight Intellect Devourers, continue West all the way.
Head North to meet
Astarion
.
Continue North back into the downed Nautiloid. Keep going North until you find a shovel in a pile of dirt. Loot the shovel and interract with the dirt mound to dig it up. Return South to the Nautiloid.
Head East and pull
Gale
out of the Ancient Sigil Circle.
Continue East until you can go North, then go North until you find and free Lae’zel.
With Astarion betray the Tieflings after convincing them to free Lae’zel.
Head back to where you found Astarion, then head Southwest. Jump down toward a cove Northwest of you and move a large rock in the cove for a Harper Cache.
Dank Crypt
Head East to the Chapel. Be wary of the cracked stone floor as you will fall into the Refectory.
With Astarion talk your way past the bandits and enter the Refectory.
Go to the North door to the Refectory and talk your way in. In the Refectory a Skull Lever on the southern-most wall behind the statue opens the door to the Dank Crypt.
Head all the way North in the Dank Crypt and in the left alcove of the statue of Jergal is a button. Press it and open the sarcophagus to liberate
Withers
.
After releasing
Withers
, check his sarcophagus again for treasure.
With Shadowheart and Gale unlock and read the Book of Dead Gods.
East of the Jergal statue find the Book of the Dead Gods. Explore the rest of the Ruins and clear the Dank Crypt.
After clearing both the Refectory and Dank Crypt go back up to the Chapel. Go South to find a dirt mound. Then Northeast to find another as well as a back entrance to the Dank Crypt.
Druid Grove
With Lae’zel ensure all the grove’s defenders survive.
Fast travel back to the Roadside Cliffs Waypoint then head North as far as you can, then West as far as you can, then North again to find the
Druid Grove
.
After killing the Goblins, go East to find the Emerald Grove Environs Sigil.
Go back into the Druid Grove and take the ladder to your immediate right. Head East and uphill and save Nadira from a Bugbear.
Speak with Nadira to get a
Soul Coin
.
Go back down the ladder and head North. Speak with Zevlor and Aradin.
With Lae’zel persuade Rolan to stay and protect the grove.
Continue North and speak with Rolan.
With Lae’zel inspire the tiefling children to train harder.
Go North and recruit Wyll. Talk to Asherak then say something to inspire the kids.
Head East and speak with the Strange Ox (Speak with Animals) but don’t push him.
Head East past the oxen and speak with Shadowheart if she’s here.
Don’t talk to Mattis yet (bug with Find your Belongings/Investigate the Beach). Continue East then down to the South. Speak to the Druids to be let into the Sacred Pool.
With Wyll save Arabella from Kagha and her serpent.
Go West to the Stone Door and head inside to speak with Kagha and save Arabella. Tell Kagha she’s just protecting her own.
Speak with Kagha about Saving the Refugees.
Speak with Rath who will ask you to Save Halsin.
With Gale learn local history from the druidic frescos.
Have Shadowheart or someone with high Intelligence read the plaques for each mural.
Go to the Servants Quarters in the Northwest and read “The Rite of Thorns” on the stone table.
Save Faldorn’s Canticle in Kagha’s Chest for Inspiration for Gale.
Climb behind the West bookshelf and open Kagha’s Chest. Read Half-Torn Note revealing
Kagha’s split loyalties

Go Northeast to the Druid’s Chambers to find Nettie working on a Blue Jay. Cast any heal spell on the Wounded Bird then speak to it (Speak with Animals).
Speak with Nettie to Find a Cure.
After speaking to Nettie, grab Mind Flayer Parasite Specimen, read On Antidotes.
With Wyll save Mirkon from the Harpies.
Head back outside, East through an archway, then down to Investigate the Beach and save Mirkon. Cast Calm Emotions on your party and Mirkon before fighting the Harpies.
Head south along the beach until you can climb up to search the Harpys’ nest. Go back North and jump across a pair of pillars for a buried chest.
Go Southwest until you see a path directly South before the archway you crossed under. Go South and speak the squirrels (Speak with Animals) and talk to Alfira. You can gain
Lihala’s Lute
and a non-bard character can learn to
Perform
.
Go back North and cross under the archway. Head South and speak with Volo and Bosk (Speak with Animals). Trade with Volo using the Trade button while in dialog.
Continue South down the hill and at the foot of the fallen pillar move the Flat Rock to find
Amulet of Silvanus
Continue Southwest and speak with Ormn then jump across the water for a Wooden Chest.
Return to the top of the fallen pillar and head West and speak with Tuffet (Speak with Animals). Give him a fish.
Take the elevator up. Be careful with elevators as party members might not follow and get trapped beneath for a crushing death. Speak with Timber (Speak with Animals).
Head East up the hill for a buried chest.
Go back down the Elevator and go West. Speak to Topaz to get his Shiny Key by telling him it is dull.
Northeast of Topaz is a chest on top of the pillars. You can jump down from above (
Feather Fall
).
Head Northeast back up the stairs and speak with Arabella’s Parents. Receive
Komira’s Locket
.
Head back up Northwest, trade with Mattis, and be kind to Silfy if you catch her picking your pocket. If you don’t catch her you can Find Your Belongings with Mol.
Continue West and speak with Doni to allow you into the Tiefling Hideout.
Enter the Tielfling Hideout and speak with Mol. Speak with her again to help her out and trade with her.
Don’t miss the Wicker Chest in the Northwest corner. (
Githyanki Psionics: Jump
). Leave the Tiefling Hideout.
With Lae’zel help Guex learn to fight.
Go West and speak with Guex where you met Wyll and help him train.
With Lae’zel go North and speak with Zorru. Don’t make him bow or kneel.
Go West and speak and trade with Dammon.
Go East and speak with Rolan again.
Go East and speak with Okta.
Turn South and speak with Auntie Ethel. Don’t tell her about the tadpole.
Go Southwest and watch Meli steal from Barth. Speak to them after Barth catches up with Meli. Talk to Remira.
If Aradin didn’t leave, go West and talk to him for information on his quest and Halsin.
Go Southwest through the Stone Door then continue West and talk to Zevlor.
Go Southwest and up the ladder. Go East and speak with Lakrissa.
Go West and up the cragged rock. Go North to the Heavy Chest.
Wilderness
Exit the Druid Grove and head Southwest jumping up the hill. Continue up the ladder and speak to Rafael if you’ve not already spoken to him.
With Karlach secure the pouch from the spider crevice.
Search the area for treasure, then head back down the hill.
Head North to find a Stone Door with goblin tracks. Go inside the Underground Passage.
Sneak past the deadly Guardian Statue and kill the goblins to save Findal.
With Wyll save Findal from the goblins.
Sneak around and activate the
3 Rune switches
to turn the off Guardian Statues. Heal Findal and talk to him.
Clear the Underground Passage of treasure then head out through the Northern exit.
Head West and talk Arka down. Wait for Arka to leave then free Sazza, tell her to follow, then take her out through the Underground Passage.
Go back to the Druid Grove and head North to Sazza’s cage. Go East and around to the warehouse and cast Lesser Restoration on Pandirna (Amulet of Silvanus).
Leave the Druid Grove and head West until you reach a wooden bridge. Go North until you reach Edowin. Retrieve the tadpole and loot the Shaft of a Broken Spear from his corpse.
Head West and down and West again to the Cave Mouth. Enter.
With Karlach triumph over the mother Owlbear.
Don’t kill the owlbear cub. Take the owlbear egg, be careful not to use it when you Long Rest. If you don’t want to fight the Owlbear, just speak (with Animals) to it, leave, then Long Rest and when you return the Goblins have killed it.
Loot the Head of a Broken Spear from the owlbear. Combine it with the Shaft to form
Vision of the Absolute
.
Head up the Cragged rock to find a buried chest. Go behind the Shine of Selûne and find the Selûnite Prayer Sheet.
With Shadowheart read the prayer sheet in front of the statue.
Leave the cave, go North up the Cragged Rock then turn West when you can't go North anymore.
Recruit Scratch
. Loot and save Gomwick’s letters for Act III.
Go South until you reach the West end of the Bridge and loot everything on the bridge.
Moonhaven (The Blighted Village)
From the West end of the bridge go Northwest and climb the vines to the West to sneak into the village.
Get the moss-covered key from the Goblin Booyahg.
Clear the apothecary’s building to the south. Save the sleeping potion. Use the Wooden Hatch behind the counter to enter the cellar.
Clear the apothecary’s cellar. Find the hidden lever behind 3 crates. Enter the hidden tunnel.
Don’t miss the
Scroll of Summon Quasit
in one of the Mouldering Caskets. Have Gale (or player) learn the spell.
With Astarion trick the magic mirror.
Interact with the Ornate Mirror. Clear the laboratory, get the
Rusted Key
from a shelf, then be sure to grab
The Necromancy of Thay
.
Leave the cellar and head north, opening the Moss-Covered Chest with the moss-covered key. Explore the smith’s house to the North. Be sure to get the
Old Key
inside and the
Heavy Key
outside to the East.
Open the Shabby Wooden Doors to the Smith’s Cellar. Clear the cellar but don’t enter the Whispering Depths yet (climb boxes or destroy cracked wall).
Be sure to find
Highcliff’s Blueprints
and
Infernal Iron
in Wooden Chests.
Go to the Southwest building and deal with the
3 Ogres
. Have Shadowheart read the Old Schoolbook in the bookshelf to the West.
With Astarion trick the Goblins.
With Wyll rescue Barcus from his fate.
Go Northwest and rescue Barcus. Search the windmill and its basement.
The Putrid Bog
With Karlach see past the illusion covering the swamp.
Exit the village to the East then head south to the bog. Side with the brothers against Ethel, talk to the brothers while a different character throws a sleep potion at them or knock them unconscious with non-lethal damage.
Keep going South until you can’t go South anymore, then jump East then jump South to fight
Mud Mephits and Wood Woads
.
Retrieve
Letter to Kagha
from a Wooden Crevice in the Southwest side of the tree.
Go back North to where you turned East then go West all the way then North to find the Teahouse Sigil. Kill the
Redcaps
to the East after you “Baa” at them or they will join in a later fight.
Without Astarion go slightly West then go uphill to the South to meet Gandral and trade with him.
Go North then immediately West and South. Don’t drink from the well. It will give each character a
+10 hp
buff but when you fight
Auntie Ethel
it becomes a poison and psychic debuff.
Go North then immediately West to the Teahouse and talk to Auntie Ethel. If you let her help you, she replaces your eye (
+1 Intimidation, Disadvantage on Perception and fighting Hags, can’t get Volo’s help later
), fails to remove the tadpole, then gives you Auntie Ethel’s Charm (
Enhance Ability
).
Head through the fireplace and down the stairs, grab a Whispering Mask but don’t put it on, talk to the face to be let through.
With Astarion use the hag’s mask to peacefully bypass her thralls. (Protection from Evil and Good prevents Auntie’s control)
Fight the Hag’s Pawns with non-lethal force so you don’t kill them. Do not loot them until Ethel is dead or they will die. Pass through the poison gas and traps. If you want to you can keep one character back to kill Auntie when she’s haggling (see next).
Fight the Hag, but be sure to activate the glowing sphere to lower Mayrina’s cage before she burns. If Auntie is at less than 20% hp on her turn she will bargain with you. Make her give you Mayrina and the power. After you get her to give you both, have your left behind character kill her. She will poof (can’t loot her) but her pawns are freed.
With Wyll free one of the Hag’s masked thralls.
Now that Ethel is dead, put on the Whispering Mask and head East. The poison is gone and you will automatically detect any remaining traps. Go North to find another illusion wall face. Go through it to find a Mushroom Circle that will take you to the Underdark.
With Karlach successfully use a fairy ring.
Go back down to Mayrina’s cage then go through the wooden door to the North and ensure you grab Bitter Divorce wand. Take the Mushroom Circle in this room back outside to find Mayrina. Talk to her, use the wand, give it to her.
Head back in the Teahouse and down the stairs and you can set Efrin and Lorin free.
From the Teahouse head North and East until you find an Addled Frog. Talk to them (Speak with Animals) and they will lead you to a treasure pouch.
Whispering Depths
Travel to the Blighted Village’s Sigil then go west to a Well and go into the Well. Vision of the Absolute will be helpful here because you’ll be fighting spiders.
With Gale read the arachnomancer’s journals (or save for later).
First follow the left hand wall around the corner to the Southwest into a small room and get the Spiderstep Boots. Grab the arachnomancer’s four (4) journals.
With Gale discover the strange nature of the Thayan tome.
Clear the area of spiders. Be sure to pick up the Dark Amethyst which is used to
unlock the Necromancy of Thay
. Wait until speaking to Sovereign Spaw’s (Underdark) and get his buff before unlocking.
With the Dark Amethyst unlock the Necromancy of Thay. Passing three increasingly harder Wisdom saves gives you the following:
Speak with the Dead as Ritual, Forbidden Knowledge (+1 to Wisdom saves and checks)
.
With Karlach enter the Underdark through the bottomless well.
To the far West is an Ancient Sigil Circle. You can use Feather Fall to jump into the Chasm surrounded by cliffs (not the one next to the Sigil) and end up in the Underdark. Beware two Minotaur.
The Risen Road
Go back to the Blighted Village’s Sigil. Go North and out of the Village through the Shabby Wooden Doors. Go North past the Barn on your right to the campfire on the little hill and grab the
+1 Dagger
.
Head down from the hill and go East into the barn.
With Gale recognize the druid and harper armour.
Go West from the Barn and follow the road North. Jump across the broken bridge and head down around the left side under the bridge to loot the Harper and Druid skeletons.
Go East and move a Flat Stone to find a Bloodstone underneath. Continue East until you find a Skeleton leaning against the North wall and loot the
Smuggler’s Ring
.
Without Wyll go East until you can’t, then go South to recruit
Karlach
. Send her to Camp at this time.
Go North, be sure to grab the
Toll Collector’s Key
then continue to the Toll House.
Without Karlach go in the South door and trade with Cyrel, but do not enter the main building. Leave when you are done.
With Lae’zel kill the Paladins seeking Karlach.
With Karlach in the party go in the main building and talk to Anders.
Loot the Toll House, ensuring to clear the Basement. Split the party and have 2 characters
sit on the two chairs
. Go North to find the Risen Road Sigil.
Go with Karlach back to the Druid’s Grove and speak to Dammon to fix The Hellion’s Heart.
Go into the Emerald Grove and Confront Kagha. Talk to Kagha again.
Steal the Idol of Silvanus and deliver it to Mol.
Invisibility on the thief and a good Deception works
.
Go through the Western Stone Door and speak with Zevlor to update him about Kagha.
With Karlach discover the curse of Yeenoghu and destroy his hyenas.
Go back to the Toll House then head Southwest across the bridge until you reach some Hyenas. Be sure to find Shipment Orders.
Save 1 Autumncrocus for the Underdark.
Follow the trail of blood to the North. Then follow the tracks and blood Northeast.
Direct the Flind to attack the Zhentarim in the cave. Kill the Gnolls then grab the Caravan Strongbox. Don’t open it. Speak with the dead Rugan.
With Karlach suvive the bandit’s rolling boulder trap.
Enter the cave and clear its contents.
Waukeen’s Rest
With Wyll go South to the broken bridge then Northwest to Waukeen’s Rest. The Sigil is West of the gateway.
With Lae’zel follow Flaming Fist orders.
Help Gauntlet Yeva with the front door.
With Wyll rescue who you can.
Destroy the Shattered Wine Barrel blocking the entrance to the East building. Go inside the building, Karlach is good for this due to her innate fire resistance. Stack crates to enable you to climb up to the second floor and rescue Counsellor Florrick. Head back outside.
Head inside the North building and go upstairs. Go west and through a door to find Benryn trapped inside. Rescue him and lead him south through a door.
With Gale glean some wisdom from speaking with the dead.
Speak with Mirileth (Speak with the Dead) to find the location of the Dowry.
Go back inside upstairs in the Northwest corner is a Gilded chest that contains
Hamarhraft
.
Go West through the tunnel and search the haystack in the Northern barn for the dowry.
Don’t forget to return to Benryn and give him the Dowry Ring.
On the East side of Waukeen’s Rest is a Jagged Rock which hides a cache underneath.
Speak (with Animals) to the Frightened Ox inside the Southwest barn.
Move the crates and enter the Northwest Barn. Get past Salazon and go down the Hatch into the Zhentarim Basement.
With Astarion talk your way into the Zhentarim hideout.
Head inside through the Wardrobe, then through the Iron Gate.
If you want to trade with Brem (and purchase
The Jolty Vest, Titanstring Bow, Gloves of Thievery, or Giantbreaker
) you must at first appease Zarys. Give her the chest. (You can loot/pickpocket it from her)
Be sure to buy invisibility potions and alchemist’s fire, or Brem will use them against you. Once you’re finished trading, you can kill the Zhentarim. Loot the Caravan Strongbox from Zarys.
Free the artist by intimidation, purchase, or killing the Southern Zhentarim (talk to him afterwards).
You can approach the Zhentarim wolves in the North and if Shadowheart fails her save, you’ll get a prompt to talk with her.
After you’ve killed all the Zhentarim, be sure to loot everything, including an Infernal Iron. Then walk through the Northwest wall illusion to find an elevator the Underdark.
Use the Mechanical Key on the Winch (or lockpick it) then take the Elevator down to the Underdark.
Underdark
You’ll see the occasional Glowing Gem. If you destroy it with arrows or melee (PC hold CTRL and click on the Gem) you may get a Purple Fluorite Shard (5gp 0.1lb).
Some Viridian Crystals don’t highlight with the highlight key so keep an eye out for them.
Nightlights will give a Nightlight Frond on a successful Nature check so use your character with the highest Intelligence (Gale) or Nature skill. If you pick-pocketed Key of the Ancients from Findal that helps too.
Go South then Southeast. Be aware of the traps below the Rope Netting as you drop down.
Go West as soon as you are able then go North. Timmask mushrooms release spores when approached or shot, then you can loot Timmask Spores. Go South downhill then West to a field of Timmask and Torchstalks. Torchstalks explode when attacked or approached.
Go North, up the mushrooms, passing the Myconid Colony Sigil, and hear Sovereign. Continue North then Northwest over the mushrooms to speak honestly with Sovereign Spaw in person.
Speak with the Gnome Thulla then Cure the Poisoned Gnome with an Antidote and offer to help Save the Grymforge Gnomes.
Go East and speak openly and honestly with Blurg and Omeluum. Trade with Blurg.
Help Omeluum Investigate the Parasite.
Go West and speak with Derryth and offer to Find the Mushroom Picker. Trade with Derryth.
Go South to speak with Sovereign Glut. Allow him to join you to Avenge Glut’s Circle.
With Karlach destroy each kind of hazardous mushroom (Timmask, Bibberbang, Torchstalk).
Return to the Myconid Colony Sigil, go South to the Timmask field then Southwest.
Go West to the Decrepit Village then continue West and South until you run into some Duergar. Speak (with the Dead) to the Shattered Duergar to find a Well-Stitched Satchel.
With Karlach loot an item from the Carrion Crawler nest. (bugged)
With Astarion have Glut stage a coup then pick a side.
Loot the Village and Docks, ensuring to go all the way West. Talk to Glut but don’t side with
Glut to kill Spaw
.
Return to Sovereign Spaw through the Myconid Colony Sigil and tell him you killed the Duergar. This gives an amazing buff
Bliss Spores: 1d6 for attack, abilities, saving throws,
that lasts until next Long Rest so you might want to delay this until after a Long Rest.
With Gale go back to Derryth and retrieve your reward just East of her. Be sure to loot
Icy Metal and Flumph Mating Rituals
from Xargrim. Read the book.
With Karlach steal from the bird’s nest.
With Karlach in the party, go Southwest then South just past some red mushrooms. Have Karlach jump across to some out-of-reach Chasm Creeper and loot the chest in the bird’s nest.
Go Northwest to the Sussur Tree. At the Dread Hollow go down the Knotted Roots.
Bibberbangs release noxious fumes when attacked or approached, they also ignite if there is open flame. Save or kill Baelen (he's abusive to Derryth), retrieve the Noblestalk and Lolth’s Candles. Mage Hand works well.
From the Southern side of the Grotto jump up to the left and around the Grotto to find the Explorer’s Ring.
With Gale go back up the Knotted Roots and go to the Sussur Tree. Grab 4 Sussur Blooms and one Sussur Bark. Remember while you are carrying the Blooms you cannot cast spells, but do not take them out of the Underdark or they will wither. Be sure to loot
Icy Crystal
from Filro.
At the Southern most spot you’ll find a grave for a beloved pet. Leave it for now.
With Karlach give Derryth the Noblestalk.
Go back to Derryth and tell her about Baelen and give her the Noblestalk.
Go East and South all the way back to the Easternmost wall. Go South to the Selûnite Outpost.
Approach the Selûnite Outpost along the wall to find a Rocky Crevice which you can sneak through if you are a small race (or Disguised as a small race).
With Shadowheart destroy the moonstone.
Shoot the Moonstone at the top of the statue of Selûne to disable the Outpost’s defenses then pull the Lever to the right of the gate to open it.
Bring your party inside after looting the ground and bodies outside. Be sure to find the
Selûnite Key
. Loot the Outpost next.
With Shadowheart obtain Phalar Aluve.
Head outside the Outpost and go West to find
Phalar Aluve
.
Go back to the Selunite Outpost, then from the Statue head Southwest and go out the window.
With Gale learn the secrets of the Adamantine Forge from Dhourn, Filro, and Xargrim.
You can destroy the Petrified Drow just like Glowing Gems, but you’ll alert a nearby
Spectator
so plan your battle before hand. Be sure to loot
Icy Helve and Memory Shard
from Dhourn. At this point you should have all 3 Icy pieces so combine them for
Mourning Frost
. Have Gale use the Memory Shard.
With Gale save obscure text (On Educating the Faithful) by a drow matron.
Continue West until you reach an intersection then go Northeast through the spider webs for some treasure.
Go Southwest down the Cragged Rock, turn East and jump across some mushrooms, loot the Skeleton then take the Cragged Rock down into the Festering Cove.
Talk to Pooldripp the Zealous to find out about their God. You can kill the “God”,
“I’ll just kill you and claim it for myself.”
and trade with Pooldripp (while talking with him) for the Sickle of BOOOAL with BOOOAL’s Blessing. If you kill all the Kuo-Toa, the blessing goes away, but if you don’t, it goes away anyway.
Loot the area, ensuring not to miss the Gilded Chest to the far North across mushroom jumps, and the Beach to the Southeast.
Head back up from the Festering Cove, go West then immediately South to loot a dead Drow body. You can climb the wall South of him, but as he found out some of the mushrooms are illusory.
At the top of the wall continue Southeast through the illusory wall to find where Auntie Ethel’s Mushroom Circle ends up. Head back down using the Mushroom Circle back on the landing.
With Gale disable an arcane turret using a sussur flower.
Go North then immediately West to the Arcane Tower. Watch out for the turrets. Split your party and use Turn-Based Mode. Dash and drop Sussur Blooms next to each one to shut them down.
If you can’t get in through the front door, there’s an open window to the left or you can jump across mushrooms to the South then West.
Once you’ve disabled all four turrets, bring the rest of your party inside the entry floor. Loot this floor. Be sure to grab
3 Broken Machinery
.
On the northern balcony is the Chest of the Mundane. Its contents are not what they appear.
Go out on the South balcony and jump East to the Mushroom, climb down then jump West to the next floor balcony.
Loot this floor. Be sure to save a Timmask Spore and Tongue of Madness for Omeluum.
Go to the South balcony, jump back up and leave the tower, then jump on the Mushrooms South and West to get to the bottom of the tower.
Go West and grab 2 more Sussur Blooms then enter the tower again. Loot everything then observe the Withered Blue Petals. Put a Sussur Bloom into the Power Generator then go up the stairs to the North.
Get in the elevator and ascend to the entry floor. Now that the turrets are disabled retrieve your Sussur Blooms. Go back to the elevator and ascend to the next floor of the tower (Bedroom).
Loot this floor, be sure to get
The Careful Art of Tir’su Ciphers and Engraved Githyanki Disc
. Have Lae’zel read the disc.
If wearing the
Dog Collar
when pressing the button at the Northeast window it will dispense raw meat once. You may have to come back for this. Be sure to read Letter from Amarith

Go back to Myrna’s grave site and you should have an option to leave Autumncrocus on the grave. Dig up the grave to find the
Dog Collar
. Go back to the Arcane Tower bedroom and press the window button with the collar on to get Raw Steak.
Use the Myconid Colony Waypoint and talk to Blug about talking with Omeluum again.
Goblin Camp
Go to the Blighted Village then Northeast to the Shabby Wooden Doors to enter the basement of the Blacksmith. Activate the Melting Furnace, then the Blacksmith’s Bellows, then back to the Furnace.
Combine the Sussur Bark with the Furnace, then a Dagger (or Sickle or Greatsword) to create a Sussur Dagger.
Exit the Blighted Village to the West then go Southwest toward the Goblin Camp. If you rescued Sazza she’ll be waiting for you on the far side of the bridge. Follow her into camp.
With Astarion deceive any of the Goblins.
After she gets out of sight you can fight the Goblins, just make sure no one reaches the alarm drum. Go West and speak with the Goblin Devout Wasp, then kill the Goblins.
Go North across the bridge into the Goblin Camp. Trade with Grat the Trader then speak with Volo.
With Karlach succesfully tame the owlbear cub (once it shows up at camp, usually 2 long rests after freeing it).
Speak with Krolla to buy the Owlbear Cub. Interact with the Owlbear cub so it knows your smell. If you choose to race, wait for Krolla to return to her post then go talk to Krolla again about taking the Owlbear.
With Astarion steal the toe ring from Crusher by the Sigil.
Talk to Klagga by the roasting spit and Persuade him to give you the Dwarf Poem he’s reading.
Talk to Eight on the East side of the camp and tell them “Sorry for your loss.”
Have Gale save Volo’s Guide to Goblins for inspiration.
Talk to Booyagh Piddle in the Tower and Persuade them to give you the book they are reading.
With Astarion poison the beer.
The goblins are drinking from a Booze Tub which you can interact with and put in some poison, just don’t get caught.
Shattered Sanctum
Go North into the Shattered Sanctum. Speak with Sazza inside. Go North into the Chapel then West up some stairs to trade with Roah Moonglow.
With Lae’zel kill every leader in the goblin camp.
Go back East to the Chapel and talk to True Soul Gut to Ask Priestess Gut for Help. Decide if you want the brand or not, then accept her one-on-one invitation to her chambers. Sneak the rest of the party in and kill her as soon as you start talking to her.
If Gut has left already, you can still get the brand from Warlock Greez. The only negatives of the brand are initial companion disappoval and Brakkal (see below) won’t talk to you.
Have Lae’zel, Karlach, or use Potion of Vaulting to jump up on top of the upper ledge to the South and loot the Wooden Crate. Jump up to the Northwest and loot the Gilded Chest, then East and get the Scroll, go North and loot the Wooden Chest.
Continue in the rafters East through a wall, go South and loot the Gilded Chest. Go back North then East and North to loot another Wooden Chest. Go back South to the Gilded Chest then East across the rafters and North to find another Gilded Chest.
Take a ladder down and rejoin the party. Go East back to the Chapel, go North then East at the huge doors and continue North to find Sazza and
Nightwarden Minthara
. Talk to her, save Sazza again, then take her out with non-lethal damage.
Kill everyone except Minthara and Sazza. Loot the area then head up the ladder to the East then North to the Worg Pens.
Kill everyone and Rescue the Druid Halsin/First Druid. Have Halsin join you and loot the area getting Worgfang in the Worg pen. Go South back into the Shattered Sanctum.
With Wyll rescue Volo.
Go South and west and enter the first door to the East. Rescue Volo and tell him to meet you at your camp. Loot the room.
With Shadowheart endure the ritual of Lovitar until Abdirak is pleased.
Go South one room and visit Abdirak and allow him to beat you. Make a show of it, do not choose Constitution. Once you receive Loviatar’s Love, kill Abdirak and loot the room.
With Wyll Save Liam.
Go South one room and rescue Liam.
Go West back into the Chapel and kill the goblins (except Sazza, use non-lethal). Loot the area.
With Shadowheart learn about Maglubiet and safetly free his priest.
Go North up the stairs and immediately West. Kill the Goblins, loot the area, and talk to Brakkal. Tell Halsin to stay out of sight of the cage. Place a Wooden Crate in front of the cage door, disarm the trap, unlock the door, and open the door.
Go back to where you killed Priestess Gut and enter Priestess Quarters Entrance. Kill Polma and loot everything.
Go East and send a small character (or Disguise as one) into the Rocky Crevice. Loot the crates and chest. Go back through the Rocky Crevice. Continue East and jump East then North to loot a skeleton.
Have/With Gale solve the moon puzzle.
Jump back and go North into the puzzle room.
The Southern wheel needs to have all the blank spaces or unlock the lever in the Northeast corner.
This opens a way into the Selûnite Outpost in the Underdark.
With Astarion convince the pit spiders to attack the goblins.
With Astarion interrogate the Mind Flayer without drawing suspicion.
Go back to the Chapel, down the stairs and open the gate. Talk to the spiders and let them go. Go North to the Throne Room to kill Dror Ragzlin.
Loot the room then go Southwest to where Roah was. Loot the area, don’t miss the Gilded Chest on the ledge to the South.
Leave the Shattered Sanctum. Finish off any remaining Goblins. Once you’ve cleared the camp, exit through the hole in the wall to the Southeast. Go down to the river and follow it to the treasure at the waterfall.
Go to the Druid Grove and talk to Zevlor (to get Wafira’s Crown), Rolan, and Halsin. Go Southeast of the Grove to speak with Ormn.
Go inside the Emerald Grove and speak to Rath. Go to the Enclave Library, place the Rune of the Wolf into the pedestal then activate all the pedestals. Go down into the Druid’s Treasure room.
Long Rest and party with the Tieflings. Speak with Rolan, Alfira, Halsin, and Volo. Rest, then speak with Volo in the morning.
After next Long Rest talk to Volo again to get his help removing the tadpole.
Grymforge
Travel to the Underdark-Beach and get on the Underdark Duergar Boat.
With Astarion gain access to Grymforge peacefully by lying to the raft patrol.
With Shadowheart persuade the spiders to remain faithful to Lolth.(verify)
Intimidate the Duergar to let you pass. Once landed, go South up the stairs to the Grymforge Sigil, then East and around and speak (with Animals) to the Spiders and convince them to follow Lolth.
Continue East to the Northeast side of the docks. Talk to Brathwen and Viss and offer to take over. Search the bodies. Loot the chest to the North.
Go East through the Double Iron Doors. Loot the room then press the button in the Northeast corner of the room. Go West and move the Loose Stone for a Pouch, then North through more doors into an ambush. Loot the chest down the stairs to the North.
Continue South up the stairs then East and North. Jump across the gap and go Northeast into the Contemplation Chamber. Speak with Philomeen and get her to give you a Runepowder Vial.
Loot the room, be sure to get the Hand-Drawn Map (backpack center of the room). Return back to the docks and take the Metal Door just South from the way you came. Go all the way East and press the button on the South wall. Loot the room.
Go West back across the docks then South up the stairs. Go West then North to trade with Stonemason Kith. Give him as much information as you can and receive Infernal Alloy.
Go North and loot the Rotting Baskets and Skeletons. Turn West up the stairs and clear the area. Return to the intersection and continue North to talk to Herdmaster Skarjall. Use Animal Handling to get the Rothé to open the way North.
Loot everything, go through the opening, be sure to grab the Devilfoil Mask at the foot of the stairs. Save the Devilfoil masks for Dammon in Act II. Continue East up the stairs.
Follow the rampart South slowly, wary for traps. Grab the Iron Key. Go through the Wrought-Iron Gate (
Mage Hand, Misty Step
) and loot the Gilded Chest and the Idol of Shar. Talk to Shadowheart and give her the Idol.
Go back North and take the first ladder to the East. Loot everything. Go back up the ladder and continue North to the second ladder. Loot the chest, jump to the platform to the East then shoot the Southern lever.
Jump to the East landing, go North and investigate the bloody footprints. Go back to the Dormitory doors and use the Iron key to open them. Go inside and loot the room. Be sure to get the Shield Mould, Harper Key, Undelivered Letter, and also the Tarnished Silver Key from the hanging skeleton.
Prepare for battle and use the Tarnished Silver Key on the Southern door. Loot the room.
Go back to the Stonemason Kith. Go South up the stairs then immediately West and down the Cragged Rock. Interact with the toy chest to make the Harper Chest appear. Cast Light on the chest to disarm the trap and open it with the Harper Key.
Go back up the Cragged Rock and North down the stairs. Go East then Southeast up the stairs to talk with Elder Brithvar. Side with the Duergar against Nere.
Go South and trade with Corsair Greymon. Talk to Sergeant Thrinn. Return her boots (you can loot them from her later), offer to free Nere.
With Wyll resuce the gnomes from Nere and the duergar.
Kill Nere and his Duergar. Kill the remaining Duergar. Talk to Barcus Wroot and offer him rest at your camp. Talk to Beldron. Take Nere’s head for Sovereign Spaw. Loot the area. Return to the docks and talk to Skickpit.
Return to the Myconid Colony and speak with Thulla. Bring Nere’s Head to Sovereign Spaw. Go to camp and speak to Barcus Wroot.
Return to the Grymforge, go back up to the rampart and cross to the Middle. Send one of your party all the way across to the East then South. The group in the middle should grab the Longsword Mould then continue South all the way to the end of the platform.
The player on the East side should jump East then continue South. Loot the Gilded Chest and Skeleton for the Scimitar Mould. Use the levers to allow the party to jump from the middle platform to the moving platform, then back across the gap.
Continue South, jump to the East and use the Ancient Forge Sigil to reform your party. Loot the area to the Northeast including the Splint Mould. Come back toward the sigil and loot the area before the forge, including the Mace Mould and Scale Mail Mould.
Continue South and West down behind where the Animated Armors were to find your first Mithral Vein. Go back up then down the stairs past the Forge Plaque and turn North to fight Magma Mephits and gather your second Mithral Ore.
With Karlach defeat the Lava Elemental.
Return to the stairs, jump to the Forge, then jump Southwest to find an Adamantine Chest. Avoid the lava. Once you kill the Lava Elemental the lava will stop bursting. There is a key to the chest on a skeleton to the North. Loot the Sentient Amulet from the chest.
Have Lae’zel interact with the Sentient Amulet and give in to the laughter.
Return to the Forge. Activate the Mould Chamber and enter your Mould. Activate the Crucible and insert one Mithril Ore. Split your party to the four platforms and activate the Forge Lever. Activate the Lava Valve then kill the Grym. Create 2 Adamantine items of your choice.
Go to Camp and talk to Volo about removing the Tadpole. Allow him to remove your eye and replace it with one that grants you See Invisibility. Go to Waukeen’s rest then go West toward the Mountain Pass.
With Astarion convince Kith’rak Voss to leave without violence.
With Lae’zel defeat the githyanki raiding squad.
Approach the Githyanki Patrol with Lae’zel for information, or without her to fight (Honeyed Paws, Disarming Strike, Heat Metal, or Command: Drop to get Voss’s Sword). Take the Mountain Pass.
Mountain Pass
Go North until the Waypoint Sigil. With Gale go Northwest to the Opulent Chest, then West and South to meet Elminster Aumar.
Go North, Southeast, East from Opulent Chest, then Southeast to trade with Lady Esther. Don’t refuse her, but don’t sell her any egg.
Go Northeast then Northwest past the Cable Car. Talk to the Blue Jay (Speak with Animals). Continue North and East until you reach the Rosymorn Monastary. At the Waypoint Sigil go East.
Go back to the Sigil and climb the Knotted Roots. Go East and enter the Monastary through the Barricade. Clear the room then go East through one of the Doors. Continue East then North and inspect the Stained-Glass Window and Plaques.
Go back to the hallway and continue East then South. Climb the Knotted Roots and talk (Speak with Animals) to the Eagles. Get the Ceremonial Warhammer from the nest. Talk to the Blue Jay.
Go East and get the Githyanki Slate from the Ancient Githyanki Warrior corpse. Go West (Misty Step, Feather Fall, Fly) all the way to the Painted Chest. Return to the Eagle’s nest then back down the Knotted Roots.
Go South, then East through the Door. Destroy the Crumbling Wall then attack the Guardian of Faith from outside its circle. Loot the room including the Ceremonial Battleaxe.
Go down the first stairs to the South then East to the fountain. Southeast up the hill to find a grave. Go West then South down some Knotted Roots. Continue West to an Elegant Chest.
Continue West around back to the front entrance and climb the Knotted Roots on the West wall. Go North through the barricade and into the small pool. Northwest of the pool jump across and climb down to face the Kobolds.
Loot the Ceremonial Mace and the rest of the room, then head back upstairs to the Stained-Glass Window. Place the appropriate Ceremonial weapon on each altar the loot the Pouch for the Dawnmaster’s Crest.
Jump out the Northeastern window then climb the Knotted Roots to an Opulent Chest and a Scroll of Revivify. Go back down, South, East, then all the way down the stairs past the Magic Mouth. Shoot the Barricade to the West and go through then North through the Door.
Loot the area, pull the lever to open the main doors, read the Plaque for the Blood of Lathander. Go down the stairs to the Monastary Basement.
Crèche Y’llek
Allow Lae’zel to talk to the Githyanki guards. Go North through the doors, East to the Waypoint Sigil, then South to trade with A’jak’nir Jeera. Return North then head West to the Small Portrait of Vlaakith.
Have someone with high History Skill or Intelligence (Gale) interact with the portrait. Go back East then North to the training hall and interact with Sa’varsh Kethk. Persuade him to stop, or offer to fight but don’t kill Youth Varrl.
Talk to Youth Varrl on the West side of the room. Read his mind or Persuade him to reveal his secret and give you his book. Read the disk then talk to Lae’zel about it.
Go South, West, then Southwest through the infirmary to speak to Ghustil Stornugoss to use the Zaith’isk. Use the Zaith’isk and make three saving throws to make your Illithid powers Bonus Actions instead of Actions.
Talk to Lae’zel and learn her theory of a traitor. Go back to the Sigil then Northeast to the Captain’s Quarters. Speak with Kith’rak Therezzyn and produce the artefact. She’ll send you to the Inquisitor.
Go North and speak with Ch’r’ai W’wargaz. Don’t give him the artefact, tell him it protects you from the Absolute or Persuade Lae’zel to stand down.
Deny Vlaakith only once then enter the Astral Prism. Jump down, loot the area then enter the Beckoning Cave. Don’t kill your Dream Visitor. Tell Lae’zel that Vlaakith is lying and open your mind to her. Take the Portal back.
Loot the Inquisitor’s Chambers then go West. Read the Plaques then turn the statues (may need Grease). Go West. Destroy the Energy Source to the left of the Energy Door. Disarm the Dawnbreaker trap.
Take the tunnel to the South to go around the door. Disarm the next trap then destroy the Energy Source to the North. Insert the Dawnmaster’s Crest into the Crest Panel.
Not killing the Dream Visitor makes all the Githyanki hostile. Fight your way out looting all the way. Be sure to collect the Parasite Specimens from the Doctor’s Office and the Githyanki Egg from the Nursury.
In the Mountain Pass go past where you met Elminster and travel to the Shadow-Cursed Lands.
As you leave the Mountain Pass you may be forced to rest so Long Rest. Speak with Kith’rak Voss and tell Lae’zel that Voss speaks true. Rest again then Leave Camp.
